Our Director of Events & Beverage, Brooklyn Bain’s birthday is August 22nd and we want to take a moment to share a little about her journey and experience at DCWAF as we celebrate her and another great trip around the sun.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Photography, Brooklyn’s journey began in the Food & Beverage industry. She originally wanted to go into the nonprofit sector after college, more specifically Arts Administration, but she got caught up in her passion for food and beverages. She traveled around the country pursuing this passion and gaining over 10 years of experience in the industry. After moving back to the Northwest Florida area in 2018, Brooklyn admired DCWAF from afar until she decided to send a general inquiry to see how she could get more involved in the organization. As it turned out, we were hiring! Here at DCWAF, Brooklyn gets to focus on her two passions: community outreach and wine.

Brooklyn’s favorite part about being the Director of Events & Beverage is that she “gets to do a little bit of everything.” She relishes in the memory of curating the list of auction items for our Annual Wine Auction event, where she gets to brainstorm wine almost all day, every day.

Our annual Harvest Wine & Food Festival is her favorite DCWAF event. “My favorite part of the weekend was moments after we opened the gates for the Grand Tasting, and you started to see everything come together and the people enjoying the fruits of our labor,” says Brooklyn.

Everyone has received a piece of advice that stuck with them, and Brooklyn’s is a two-part answer. “Treat others how you want to be treated” and “lead by example” both project a genuine sense of dependability and caring for others that resonate with Brooklyn. “It’s at the core of everything I do, personally and professionally,” she says.

When asked ‘If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?’ Brooklyn would love to be an expert in all things beverage. She says, “I know a decent amount about wine and more than your average bear about other libations, but I am constantly learning something new. It’s one of those things where the more you know, the more you know you don’t know, and I am fascinated by the art and science of it all.”
