Charity Spotlight: AMIkids

amitgiving

“Separating a troubled past from a bright future” is the vision that AMIkids Emerald Coast works towards every day. Located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, this nonprofit is dedicated to helping kids transform their lives by discovering the potential within themselves, providing care and guidance to help them achieve their goals, and breaking the cycle of failure and poverty.

AMIkids Personal Growth Model © focuses on education, behavior modification, and treatment.
They have been recognized by both the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the U.S. Department of Justice as a proven example of how an organized program such as theirs can make a positive difference in the children and their surrounding communities.

Locally founded in 1998, AMIkids serves as an education and treatment facility for students with non- violent offenses that will benefit from a separate guidance program, rather than a traditional school. AMIkids focuses on not only educating the students, but also providing the support and resources for the kids and their families to address both issues in the home and the student’s neighborhood that may be preventing them from reaching their full potential.

AMIkids Emerald Coast has transformed the lives of over a 1,000 kids through the support of their staff, volunteers, and community supporters. They also provide student assistance beyond the confines of a regular school calendar. Throughout the Thanksgiving holiday, through donations from another community partner, Food for Thought, AMIkids was able to provide 25 turkeys and 50 bags of groceries for their students and their families to enjoy as a Thanksgiving meal. We at DCWAF were happy to deliver the food and assist our partners in providing a happy holiday for their students!
