Chew on This

On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, Food for Thought Outreach celebrated their Destin Pantry's Ribbon Cutting with the Destin Chamber of Commerce. Guests were invited to tour the facility, get to know the organization, register to volunteer, and enjoy light bites provided by Brotula's Seafood House & Steamer. This new Destin Pantry will help continue the fight against child hunger by providing children who are dependent on free or reduced school meals, access to backpacks full of healthy food when they are away from school. The goal is to support development by bridging the gap between school meals during weekends and holiday breaks.

Food for Thought has been serving our community since 2010, currently serving 15 schools in Walton and Okaloosa counties, providing backpacks for 1200 students each week. We can only expect the number of children who benefit from Food for Thought Outreach to grow, specifically in the Okaloosa county area, with the use of this new facility made possible by their generous sponsors such as DKM Custom Homes whose donations to the construction of this building were instrumental.
