Massolino
Franco Massolino is the second of three children descended from a long line of Italian winemakers. He is a trained oenologist and received his diploma in 1990 from the oenological school of Alba. At a young age, he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and work in his family’s vineyard, cultivating his passion for winemaking with each passing day. Upon completion of his degree, Franco transitioned from working in the vineyards to taking care of the cellar.
As the winery’s owner, Franco considers himself fortunate for the opportunity to have his hands in all aspects of the Massolino brand. In his current role, Franco along with his younger brother, Roberto, and two other workers take care of the cellar. Franco also personally manages the export markets for the winery. He enjoys adding his personal touch to all operations starting in the vineyard and continuing all the way to the cellar, where his passion truly lies. For Franco, managing the harvest, the vinification process, the aging process and following the evolution of the wines is magic.
Franco was married in 2000, and today has three wonderful children. He’s very proud of his job, family and cellar and is always working to pass along his passion for the vines and wines to his children, as his father did to him, hoping that they will one day continue the history of the family business.
