Located in Saint Helena, Macauley Vineyard is owned by Mac and Amy Watson. In the early 80’s, Mac Watson’s mother had earned her MBA. Wanting to utilize her education, she debated whether to open a cheese factory or a winery, and opted for the winery, thus placing the Watson family in Saint Helena. Mac’s father built a winery in their basement, with winemaker at the time, Rick Forman. Mac was raised in Saint Helena. After taking a trip to France in highschool, they tasted wine at Chateau Lafite Rothschild, including the iconic 61 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, which floored him. In college, he became reconnected with Saint Helena and the passion of winemaking. Their minimilast take his hands on approach to personally knowing every vine they source with his winemaker, Kirk Venge. This small production winery has now opened their doors to their tasting room and is distributed in the area by McNeese Distributing.
