1. As you swirl, sniff, and sip your wine, hold it up, look at the color. The color of the wine can actually tell you alot about the region and climate where the grape vine is located. If a wine is darker in shade, it typically comes from a warmer climate. Lighter colors come from cooler climates and taste lighter. This would apply to the darkest reds and yelow whites. 

2. The earliest discovereis of wine were discovered in the Neolithic period (8500-4000 BC). It is said that the drink was fermented by mistake. Yeast came in contact with stored grapes by mistake, turning sugars in the grapes into alcohol. Egyptians later refined the art of winemaking and it spread through the Mediterranean by the Greek. Romans enhanced its popularity throughout Europe. The Spanish and other Europeans packed up their juice on their journeys to the New World, Oceania, and South Africa. 

3. One bottle of wine contains 2.4 pounds of grapes.

4. The branding of corks predates the branding of wine labels.

 5. Moderate consumption of red wine on a regular basis can prevent some types of cancer and coronary heart disease.

6. The world's oldest person (122) attributed her old age to a diet of olive oil, port wine, and 1kg of chocolate per week.

7. The oldest preservved bottle of wine is nearly 1700 years old and it is on display in a German Museum.
